Cooperation with Super Micro means new developments for Europe
Vienna/San Jose (pts026/05.10.2010/14:05) – The Viennese server and storage specialist Novarion is bringing its experience on the economic use of state-of-the-art technologies back to the development centres. Together with its partner Super Micro, new storage systems are being developed for the European market. These are characterised by significantly longer operating times of planned seven years and higher performance (I/O). At the same time, the use of industry-standard components results in enormous price advantages per terabyte. Novarion server and storage systems are also exempt from the Austro Mechana copyright levy.
Georg Gesek, CEO of Novarion, wants to fortify Austria as a location for high-tech industry, especially in the area of research and development. “We are already working on the next generation of computers and the one after that, thinking ten years ahead. Austria can become the Silicon Valley of Europe,” Gesek is very confident about the future and adds: “However, we have to invest a lot more in research and education for the coming generation.”
Charles Liang, CEO of Super Micro, is pleased about the deepened cooperation: “It is our great enthusiasm to work with Novarion.” The joint efforts will focus on the low power consumption of IT systems, the development of parallel computers (GPU systems) and the further standardisation of storage systems. Super Micro will benefit from Novarion’s extensive experience in the course of the cooperation.
